Day-to-Day HR Consultancy

Clear Advice When You Need It

Workplace matters do not always arise neatly or at a convenient time.

Centre Stage HR provides calm, practical guidance to help you understand the issue, assess your options and take an appropriate next step.

The aim is not simply to provide a technical answer, but to help you reach a fair, workable and commercially sensible outcome.

Support can include:

  • Absence and wellbeing
  • Conduct and disciplinary matters
  • Grievances and complaints
  • Performance and capability
  • Probation and attendance concerns
  • Flexible working and family leave
  • Difficult conversations
  • Settlement and workplace-resolution options
  • General HR advice for managers and leaders

People and Culture

Building workplaces where people can perform

Culture is created through everyday behaviour, leadership decisions and the experience people have at work — not through values written on a wall.

Centre Stage HR helps organisations understand their current culture and identify practical ways to strengthen it.

The work is always grounded in what will make a meaningful difference to your people and your organisation.

Support can include:

  • Culture and engagement reviews
  • Employee listening and feedback
  • Values and behavioural frameworks
  • Dignity, inclusion and respect at work
  • Psychological safety
  • Communication and consultation
  • Organisational development
  • Action planning following surveys or workplace concerns

Complex Employee Relations

Support Through Difficult Workplace Matters

Sensitive or high-risk situations require careful handling, sound judgement and clear process.

Support can range from coaching a manager behind the scenes to independently conducting the full process.

Centre Stage HR can advise on or independently support:

  • Workplace investigations
  • Disciplinary and grievance processes
  • Bullying, harassment and discrimination concerns
  • Relationship breakdowns
  • Mediation and facilitated conversations
  • Complex sickness absence
  • Organisational change and redundancy
  • Senior or sensitive employee matters
  • Appeals and formal hearings

Policies, Contracts and Documentation

Documents That Work in Practice

Employment documents should protect your organisation, set clear expectations and remain understandable to the people using them.

Every document is tailored to your organisation rather than produced from an untouched generic template.

Where specialist legal advice is required, this will be clearly identified.

Centre Stage HR can draft, review or update:

  • Employment contracts
  • Worker and casual agreements
  • Freelancer and consultancy agreements
  • Offer letters and variation letters
  • Employee handbooks
  • HR policies and procedures
  • Manager guidance
  • Investigation and hearing documentation
  • Template letters and correspondence
  • Production-specific agreements and supporting documentation

Leadership and Manager Support

Helping Leaders Lead With Confidence

Managers are often expected to handle complex people matters without enough guidance, confidence or experience.

Centre Stage HR provides practical coaching and support that helps leaders prepare for conversations, understand their responsibilities and make balanced decisions.

Support can include:

  • One-to-one leadership coaching
  • Management mentoring
  • Preparation for difficult conversations
  • Support with feedback and performance
  • Leadership-team facilitation
  • Manager toolkits and guidance
  • Decision-making support during change
  • Developing confidence and consistency across management teams

Training and Workshops

Practical Learning That People Can Use

Training should create confidence and change behaviour — not simply complete a compliance exercise.

Centre Stage HR designs and delivers engaging, jargon-free sessions online or in person. Content can be adapted to your workplace, audience and real-life challenges.

Bespoke workshops can also be created around a specific organisational need.

Topics may include:

  • Managing performance and capability
  • Handling difficult conversations
  • Dignity and respect at work
  • Preventing sexual harassment
  • Safeguarding awareness
  • Managing absence and wellbeing
  • Fair and effective rostering
  • Courageous leadership
  • Investigations and disciplinary processes
  • Feedback and psychological safety

Theatre and Creative Industries

Specialist HR for Theatre and Live Performance

Theatre and production environments have their own pace, language, structures and pressures.

Generic HR solutions do not always translate easily into a world of rehearsal periods, fixed-term engagements, touring, freelancers, casual teams and immovable opening nights.

Centre Stage HR understands that reality.

Specialist in theatre — but not limited to theatre.

Specialist support can include:

  • Production and creative-team contracts
  • Cast, crew and freelancer arrangements
  • Fixed-term and project-based working
  • Touring and union considerations
  • Production-office and management support
  • Safeguarding and child-performance arrangements
  • Dignity, respect and culture throughout the production lifecycle
  • Investigations and employee relations within productions
  • Practical HR support from planning and rehearsal through to final curtain

For defined work with an agreed scope, timetable and outcomes. Support can cover investigations, restructures, document reviews, training programmes, or culture projects.

  • Retained Partnership

For organisations wanting regular access to experienced HR support and continuity. A retained partnership offers priority advice, leadership support and ongoing insights.

  • Specialist Network Support

When additional expertise is required, Centre Stage HR brings together trusted independent specialists, while remaining your central point of contact throughout the work.

Fees

Clear and Proportionate Investment

The cost of support will depend on the nature, complexity and timescale of the work.

Straightforward advice may be charged hourly, while meetings, workshops and focused pieces of work may be arranged on a half-day, full-day or fixed-project basis. Retained support is tailored to the level of access and continuity your organisation requires.

You will always receive a clear explanation of the proposed scope and cost before work begins.

Hourly, half-day and full-day support is available, alongside bespoke project and retained arrangements.

Not Sure What Kind of Support You Need?

That is completely fine.

Start by explaining what is happening, where you feel stuck and what outcome you are hoping to achieve.

Centre Stage HR can then help identify the most useful and proportionate way to support you.
